SpaceX options top $1.4 billion as traders chase 80% 2-day jump
What's new: Nearly 1 million contracts traded, with calls beating puts 600,000 to 400,000 and some bets targeting a Thursday expiry.
SpaceX options drew frenzied demand Tuesday, with about 1 million contracts changing hands and total premium topping $1.4 billion, according to ThinkOrSwim and SpotGamma data cited by CNBC. By dollar volume, the trading exceeded Tesla and Nvidia combined and edged past the Invesco QQQ Trust, helped by unusually high implied volatility. Calls led puts by roughly 600,000 to 400,000, with many buyers piling into short-dated bullish wagers. More than 20,000 contracts on the 380-strike call expiring Thursday traded by midday, a bet that would require the stock to surge nearly 80% in less than 48 hours to pay off.
