South Tangerang prosecutors name 2 suspects in pawn loan graft
One suspect has been detained, while the other missed three summonses and is set to be placed on the wanted list.
The South Tangerang District Prosecutor's Office has named TAB and JI suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the disbursement of sharia pawn loans at PT Pegadaian Unit Pelayanan Syariah Pondok Jaya, Pondok Aren. The case is believed to have occurred in February-March 2025. Based on the investigation, JI, as a customer, applied for 10 loan contracts backed by 10 collateral items. TAB, who was then the unit head, allegedly returned all collateral without the loan being repaid. Prosecutors said the move caused state financial losses, although the amount is still being audited by BPK. TAB has been detained, while JI has not answered three investigator summonses and will be entered on the wanted list. Investigators also searched three locations and seized documents and other items linked to the case.
