Singapore trials ERP 2 alerts, e-parking before Jan. 1 rollout
What's new: 1,000 motorists are testing satellite toll notices now, while roadside e-parking starts in August at 644 locations.
Singapore is testing new Electronic Road Pricing 2 features before the satellite-based road charging system replaces the current gantry network on Jan. 1, 2027. The Land Transport Authority said 1,000 motorists are taking part in a June-to-November trial that includes an “ERP Ahead” warning on the on-board unit before a vehicle reaches a charging point. The alert generally appears about 200 meters before expressway charges and 60 meters before arterial-road charges, with the fee shown in advance. From August, pilot users will also test roadside electronic parking payment at 644 designated carpark locations covering about 19,000 spaces managed largely by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Gantries will be progressively removed as operating hours and rates shift to the in-vehicle display and compatible ERP 2 apps.
