Singapore traffic injuries rose to 5,090 in first half of 2026
Why it matters: Deaths fell to 61 from 79, but elderly pedestrian injuries jumped to 132 and speed violations climbed 6.1%.
Singapore’s road accidents and casualties increased again in the first half of 2026, even as fatal crashes and deaths declined from a year earlier. Traffic Police recorded 3,929 accidents causing injury or death, up 2.7% from 3,826 in the same period of 2025, while total casualties rose 3.6% to 5,151. Fatal accidents fell to 60 from 78, and deaths dropped to 61 from 79, largely because fewer motorcyclists and pillion riders were killed. But that group still made up 55.6% of all traffic accidents, and elderly pedestrians remained a key concern. Accidents involving elderly pedestrians rose to 144 from 121, with injuries climbing to 132 from 106. Traffic Police said 38.9% of those cases involved unsafe behavior such as jaywalking.
