Singapore temperature drops to 20.1C after heavy rain, flood alerts
What's next: Forecasters still expect warmer, drier weather from June to October as El Nino and a positive Indian Ocean Dipole build.
Singapore recorded its lowest temperature of 2026 on June 12 after heavy rain swept across the island, with the mercury falling to 20.1C at the Newton weather station at 12:52 p.m. The downpour lasted until about noon and prompted PUB to issue flash flood risk alerts for parts of Balestier and Paya Lebar. The previous low this year was 20.3C, also in Newton, on Feb. 19. The National Environment Agency had warned of heavy rain over southern, eastern, western and central areas late in the morning. Despite the cooler spell, the Meteorological Service Singapore said on May 29 that warmer and drier conditions are still expected from June to October, linked to El Nino and a likely positive Indian Ocean Dipole.
