Singapore sets July 12 opening for 3 Circle Line MRT stations
What's next: The additions will complete the Circle Line loop, letting trains run the full circuit without a terminal stop.
Singapore will open three new Circle Line MRT stations - Keppel, Prince Edward Road and Cantonment - on July 12, closing the final gap in the orbital rail route. The Land Transport Authority gave media a preview on June 9 and scheduled a public preview for July 4. Once service starts, trains will be able to travel around the full Circle Line without ending at a designated terminal station. The stations were designed around nearby heritage and future development plans: Cantonment draws on the former Tanjong Pagar railway station, Prince Edward Road reflects the area's maritime past, and Keppel is built to serve the Greater Southern Waterfront and nearby business hubs.
