Singapore reshuffles Cabinet, elevates 3 ministers and Shanmugam

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong reshuffled his Cabinet on Wednesday, promoting Jeffrey Siow, David Neo and Sim Ann to full ministers and elevating K. Shanmugam to senior minister as younger office holders take larger roles. Jasmin Lau will become acting manpower minister, while Tan See Leng moves to trade and industry to oversee energy and industry. Ng Chee Meng will return to government as minister in the Prime Minister’s Office. Most changes take effect July 27, with the Ministry of Trade and Industry to be renamed the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry on Oct. 1. Wong said the shake-up also responded to the recent resignations of Koh Poh Koon and Faishal Ibrahim.
