Singapore powerlifter Farhanna Farid wins Berita Harian top honor

Singapore national powerlifter Farhanna Farid won the Berita Harian Achiever of the Year 2026 award on Nov. 6, earning recognition for 14 world records and her work to expand opportunities for women in the sport. Farhanna, 34, also serves on Powerlifting Singapore's executive committee, where she handles marketing and sponsorship aimed at easing athletes' financial strain. In June, she placed fifth at the World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships, and in September she organized Lift Like A Girl, a women-only competition. At the same ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Nabill Shukry Johary received the Young Achiever of the Year 2026 award after building meat business Cheekies with his father in 2021 using S$1,000 in personal savings.
