Singapore police arrested a 66-year-old minibus driver after a 77-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run that investigators now say began in Jurong West, not on the Pan-Island Expressway. Police said preliminary findings show the woman was struck at the junction of Jurong West Street 61 and Jurong West Avenue 4 on Oct. 16, and that the driver left before officers arrived. Her body was later found on the PIE toward Changi Airport, before the Jalan Bahar exit, where a Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedic pronounced her dead at 7:10 a.m. Police arrested the driver for driving without due care and attention causing death. Investigators have not explained how the body ended up about 2.2 kilometers from the crash site.
