Singapore man made 1,035 silent police calls, drew 23-day term

A Singapore court gave Foo Jia Hong, 37, a 23-day jail term after he made 1,035 silent calls to four neighborhood police centers over more than a week “for fun and enjoyment.” Foo pleaded guilty to one count tied to 425 calls to Yishun Neighbourhood Police Centre, while three similar charges involving Bedok, Geylang and Ang Mo Kio were considered in sentencing. Prosecutors said the unanswered calls clogged the centers’ phone queues and slowed responses to later callers. The number was linked to a Simba SIM card registered to a foreign worker, who told investigators he had discarded it. Foo said he found the SIM card in a second-hand phone cover bought in Ang Mo Kio earlier in 2026 and used police directories or leaflets to get the landline numbers.
