Singapore man, 72, faces 6 harassment charges over abusive emails

What's next: Manickam Manohar is due back in court on July 9 and could face up to 12 months in jail and a S$5,000 fine.

A 72-year-old Singaporean man was charged on June 11 with six offenses under the Protection from Harassment Act after prosecutors said he sent abusive messages to Marsiling-Yew Tee MP Hany Soh and several town council staff. Court filings say Manickam Manohar emailed the town council and Soh between August and October 2025, accusing them of misconduct and using insults including "useless manager," "stupid" and "idiot." He also allegedly posted notices at Housing Board blocks in Woodlands in 2024 carrying abusive remarks from OneService feedback. The case centers on conduct tied to the officials' public duties. Police said Manickam had previously been investigated for similar behavior involving the same MP and town council employees.
