Singapore GovTech cuts 93 jobs as overhaul targets up to 9% of roles

What's next: Two more phases are due over two years, with roughly 300 roles affected as GovTech shifts work in-house.

Singapore's Government Technology Agency cut 93 jobs in the first phase of a two-year workforce overhaul that is expected to affect 7% to 9% of roles, or about 300 workers. GovTech, which has about 3,900 staff, said the restructuring will move it from managing vendor-led projects to owning and running digital products directly. In the first phase, 102 employees kept their roles and 110 were moved into apprenticeships for retraining. The affected teams include GovTech headquarters and staff deployed to six public agencies. Retrenched workers will get one month's pay for each year of service, capped at 25 years, plus a three-month ex gratia payment, notice-period pay and career support.
