Singapore gives 1.38 million households S$500 vouchers early

Why it matters: The aid was moved up from January 2027 to June as Middle East turmoil threatens to lift imported costs and inflation.

Singapore began issuing S$500 in CDC vouchers to all 1.38 million Singaporean households on June 11, bringing the payout forward by six months to cushion living costs. Each household gets S$250 for participating hawkers and heartland merchants and S$250 for supermarkets, with vouchers valid through Dec. 31, 2027. Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong said imported cost pressures could rise in coming months as higher energy and other input costs move through global supply chains. Core inflation eased to 1.4% in April from 1.7% in March, while headline inflation held at 1.8%. Households can claim the vouchers through the RedeemSG portal using Singpass.
