Singapore ex-army captain gets 17 months for sex acts with 15-year-old
What's new: The 41-year-old also admitted filming the abuse and keeping the videos as a "personal collection."
A former Singapore Army captain was sentenced to 17 months in jail after pleading guilty to sexual offenses involving a 15-year-old boy and to producing child abuse material. Chaw Chia Jun, 41, met the student through his former partner, Owen Toh Wei Song, after the teenager contacted Toh on an online forum in 2024. The three later met at a multi-storey car park in Punggol, where sexual acts took place and Chaw filmed part of the encounter. Chaw later met the boy again alone at a shopping mall toilet, where he filmed more sexual acts. The case surfaced after the boy’s family questioned gifts he had been receiving, leading to a police report in October 2024. Toh was sentenced last month to 12 months in jail.
