Singapore embassy rejects claim Dino Patti Djalal met ambassador
What's new: The embassy called the posts disinformation and moved to work with Indonesia's digital ministry on a response.
Singapore's embassy in Jakarta denied social media claims that former Indonesian deputy foreign minister Dino Patti Djalal and political scientist Saiful Mujani visited Ambassador Kwok Fook Seng's residence on Oct. 18. The embassy said no such visit happened and labeled the posts disinformation. It said it would coordinate with Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs on the issue. Dino and Saiful also denied the allegation. Dino said he was in Perth, Australia, that day for a climate change event and returned to Indonesia on Oct. 20. The claims spread amid broader friction in Indonesia-Singapore relations and after Dino publicly pushed back on accusations that Singapore was conspiring against Indonesia's interests.
