Singapore driver tied to 7 crashes faces etomidate, dangerous driving charges

What's new: Police said his license was suspended after a Feb. 6 head-on crash, and two earlier crashes sent victims to hospital.

A 31-year-old man in Singapore is due to be charged Wednesday over seven traffic accidents between October 2024 and February 2025, including counts tied to etomidate use, dangerous driving and other traffic offenses. Police said the latest crash happened on Feb. 6 on Punggol North Avenue, where he allegedly drove against traffic and hit a lorry head-on. A vaporizer and pod were seized, and the Health Sciences Authority later detected etomidate in his blood. Investigators linked him to six earlier crashes, including an Oct. 21 rear-end collision in Sengkang that left a 64-year-old taxi driver with neck strain and an Oct. 22 Marina Coastal Expressway crash that injured another driver. Police also allege he gave a false statement about inhaling from a vaporizer after a Feb. 1 crash.
