A Singapore man pleaded guilty on Aug. 6 to dangerous driving charges over a six-vehicle crash in Tampines in April 2024 that killed a 17-year-old Temasek Junior College student and 57-year-old Norzihan Juwahib. Court filings said Muhammad Syafie Ismail, 45, first sideswiped another car while overtaking on Bedok Reservoir Road, nearly hitting a motorcyclist, then kept driving toward the junction of Tampines Avenue 1 and Tampines Avenue 4. He entered the junction at 129 to 134 km/h in a 50 km/h zone and ran a red light that had been red for at least 26 seconds, triggering a chain collision that hurt eight others. The teenage victim was under a gag order because she was under 18.
