Singapore cuts parking fees for 2,000 commercial vehicles

What's new: From Aug. 1, eligible vehicles will pay passenger-car rates, with HDB fees dropping from S$185 to S$80-S$110.

Singapore will lower season parking fees from Aug. 1 for commercial vehicles with unladen weight of 1,801kg to 2,000kg at HDB and URA carparks, a change expected to benefit about 2,000 existing permit holders and new applicants. At HDB carparks, monthly rates for residents' first vehicle will fall to S$80 to S$110 from S$185. At URA carparks, the rate will be cut to S$90 a month from S$120 to S$160. National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat tied the move to the Ministry of National Development's pro-enterprise rules review and feedback from stakeholders, including small and medium-sized enterprises that rely on such vehicles. The revised rates apply to passes bought in July for use starting Aug. 1.
