Singapore court jails mother 4 years for giving son, 15, meth

Why it matters: Prosecutors said the boy smoked meth every two to three days for months after finding drug utensils at home.

A Singapore court sentenced a 52-year-old woman to four years in jail on June 5 after she let her 15-year-old son use methamphetamine and gave him the utensils to smoke it. The woman, who cannot be named under a gag order protecting the boy’s identity, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Prosecutors said the teenager found drug utensils in a sink at the family’s Yishun flat in January 2025 and asked his mother about them. She told him they were for smoking meth, and over the following months he used the drug once every two to three days with utensils left in the living room. Central Narcotics Bureau officers arrested the woman at home in June 2025. Her husband, the boy’s stepfather, also allegedly supplied the drug, and his case is still before the courts.
