Singapore charges man, 43, after officer was spat on at Yishun fire
What's next: He was remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for examination, and his case returns to court on July 20.
A 43-year-old man was charged in Singapore on July 6 after police said he spat on an officer during a firefighting operation in Yishun. Charge sheets identified him as Mohamad Yazid bin Junaineh and accused him of using criminal force against a public servant to stop the officer from doing his duty. Police said the July 3 incident unfolded as officers and the Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to a fire at Block 381C Yishun Ring Road that forced 25 residents to evacuate and sent a child to hospital. The court ordered Yazid to be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for a medical examination. Court papers also said he was under a remission order running from April 15, 2024, to Oct. 12, 2026.
