Singapore Botanic Gardens opens Asia’s first certified nature trail

Why it matters: NParks is tying the 150-meter Saraca Stream walk to mental well-being research and post-visit surveys.

Singapore Botanic Gardens has opened a 150-meter nature immersion trail at Saraca Stream near Tanglin Gate, billed by NParks as the first in Asia certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. The self-guided trail uses signs to prompt visitors to observe, listen, touch and breathe more deliberately as they move through the area. NParks said the route was chosen for its biodiversity, natural features and accessibility, including for wheelchair users. The agency said the trail fits into its Parks for Health framework and has also started a study on mindful immersion in a primary forest, secondary forest and urban park.
