Singapore air quality stays unhealthy as haze drifts from Indonesia
What's next: NEA expects PSI to remain from high moderate to mid-unhealthy as dry weather and southeast winds persist.
Air quality remained in the unhealthy range across central, eastern and western Singapore on Oct. 7 as haze from Indonesia continued to drift over the city-state. At 7 a.m., the 24-hour PSI reached 130 in central Singapore, 118 in the east and 117 in the west, while the north and south stayed moderate at 99 and 97. Hourly PM2.5 readings were elevated in the same three regions, including 85 in the west. Singapore's National Environment Agency said scattered hotspots were detected in Kalimantan and Sumatra, with moderate to dense smoke plumes from southern Sumatra and West Kalimantan moving toward Singapore. The agency warned the haze could persist with dry conditions and east-southeasterly winds.
