Singapore adds 4 Cross Island Line stations for west by late 2030s
Why it matters: The 10km phase could cut some east-west commutes by 50 minutes and add two more interchanges to the MRT network.
Singapore will add four underground stations to the Cross Island Line under its third phase, extending rail access to Taman Jurong and western industrial estates by the late 2030s. The roughly 10km segment, known as CRL3, is due to start construction in 2027 and will include interchanges with the Jurong Region Line and the East-West Line at Gul Circle. Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said the full line will have 26 stations, including 11 interchanges, giving commuters more alternatives during disruptions. Authorities will fully acquire seven industrial properties and partially acquire eight others to make way for the works.
