SimplyGo fixes 2-day fare glitch that hit 210,000 trips a day

What's new: A configuration error blocked pre-peak rail discounts on Aug. 20 and 21, and eligible fares now show correctly in the app.

SimplyGo fixed a two-day fare glitch that stopped pre-peak rail discounts from being applied to an average of 210,000 journeys a day in Singapore on Aug. 20 and 21. The company said a configuration error affected SimplyGo EZ-Link and bank card transactions, causing some commuters who tapped in before the 7:45 a.m. cutoff to be charged without the discount. SimplyGo said corrected fares now appear in its app and will be the amounts charged where riders qualify. Under Singapore's Morning Pre-Peak Fare Scheme, weekday rail commuters who tap in before 7:45 a.m., excluding public holidays, get up to S$0.50 off. The scheme began in 2017 to shift travel away from the morning rush.
