A shootout between Satgas Rajawali VI Detasemen 1 Koops TNI Habema and an armed OPM Kodap III/Ndugama-Nderakma group killed two people in Kampung Nonggoloit, Distrik Kenyam, Kabupaten Nduga, Papua Pegunungan, Friday (23/10/2026). Pangkoops TNI Habema Brigjen TNI Riyanto said the clash broke out when patrol personnel followed up on information about the group's presence near a residential area. When the area was checked, the armed group was said to have opened fire first, triggering the exchange. After the situation was brought under control, two people suspected to be OPM members were found dead, while others fled. Authorities also seized two air rifles, bows and arrows, sharp weapons, 18 cellphones, HT communication equipment, documents, group attributes and Rp88 juta in cash. The identities of the victims are still being checked.
