Shafiyah Expo 2026 to feature 129 tenants, boost Yogya halal ecosystem

Yogyakarta city government wants the halal sector to help draw tourists and is preparing a larger halal expo in 2027.

Shafiyah Expo 2026 in Yogyakarta will bring together 129 tenants from culinary, fashion, philanthropy, hobbies, and Islamic financial services sectors on June 19-21. Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Wawan Harmawan said the city’s halal industry has strong potential and is not limited to products for Muslims, but also relates to cleanliness, health, and quality of life. The Yogyakarta city government wants halal-sector development to become part of the city’s tourism appeal, while also supporting health, the creative economy, and community empowerment. Shafiyah Expo manager Imam Hidayat said the exhibition is aimed at strengthening the role of UMKM and the sharia economy in Yogyakarta, through collaboration between local government, business operators, communities, college students, and school pupils.
