Serbian TV pundit apologizes after racist World Cup remarks
What's new: RTS also apologized, but Rade Bogdanovic returned to the broadcaster's studio a day later.
Former Yugoslavia striker Rade Bogdanovic apologized after making racist comments about Black players during Serbian state broadcaster RTS's World Cup coverage. Bogdanovic, working as an analyst during Belgium's 0-0 draw with Iran in Group G in Los Angeles, said Black players "lack concentration" after Belgium defender Nathan Ngoy was sent off in the 66th minute. The remarks drew backlash online, and RTS issued its own apology, saying Bogdanovic is not an employee but an expert commentator for the tournament. Despite the controversy, he was back on air Monday for Argentina's 2-0 win over Austria. The result left Belgium third in Group G after draws with Iran and Egypt.
