Serbian TV pundit apologizes after racist World Cup remarks
What's new: RTS also apologized, but it brought Rade Bogdanovic back on air a day later for Argentina's 2-0 win over Austria.
Former Yugoslavia striker Rade Bogdanovic apologized after making racist comments about Black players during Serbia's public TV coverage of Belgium's 0-0 World Cup draw with Iran in Los Angeles. Working as an analyst for RTS, Bogdanovic questioned Black players' concentration and stamina while discussing Belgium defender Nathan Ngoy's 66th-minute red card. The remarks drew backlash online, and RTS issued its own apology, noting Bogdanovic is not an employee but an expert commentator for the tournament. Despite the uproar, he returned to the RTS studio Monday for Argentina's 2-0 Group J win over Austria. Belgium is third in Group G after draws with Iran and Egypt.
