Serang to protect 32,600 vulnerable village workers in new program
Under Perbup 59/2025, each village must enroll 100 workers in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for JKK and JKM coverage.
The Serang regency government launched the Program 1 Desa 100 Pekerja Rentan to provide social security protection for 32,600 vulnerable workers across 29 districts. The program, launched on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, is run with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and requires each village to protect 100 workers through Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja and Jaminan Kematian. It is based on Peraturan Bupati Serang Nomor 59 Tahun 2025. Serang Regent Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah said the move is aimed at informal workers in villages. As of Semester I 2026, of the potential 752.470 workers in Kabupaten Serang, only 337.407 people, or 44.84 percent, were protected, leaving about 415,000 workers still uncovered.
