Senate passes $70 billion bill for ICE, Border Patrol funding

What's next: The measure goes to the House after a 52-47 vote that left Trump's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund untouched.

The Senate approved a roughly $70 billion package early Friday to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Border Patrol and related immigration agencies for the rest of President Donald Trump's term. The bill passed 52-47 after an overnight vote-a-rama and now moves to the House, which is expected to take it up next week. Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska was the only Republican to oppose it, joining Democrats. Efforts to add limits on Trump's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund failed, despite support from some Republicans. The final bill also dropped $1 billion the White House had requested for security upgrades and a ballroom project.
