Senate passes $70 billion bill for ICE and Border Patrol

What's next: The measure goes to the House after a 52-47 Senate vote, with Democrats failing to add limits on a $1.8 billion fund.

The Senate approved a roughly $70 billion immigration enforcement package early Friday, sending major new funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol toward the House. The bill passed 52-47 after an overnight, 18-hour vote-a-rama, with Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski joining Democrats in opposition and one Democrat not voting. Lawmakers rejected a series of Democratic amendments, including efforts to curb the Trump administration's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund. ABC reported the House is not expected to take up the measure until next week. The package would finance the immigration agencies for the rest of President Donald Trump's term.
