Scott Pelley blasts CBS overhaul after '60 Minutes' staff purge
What's new: Pelley said the turmoil followed senior staff cuts and Bari Weiss' installation of Nick Bilton to run the show.
Former "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley attacked CBS News management in his first interview since his firing, describing the network as "on fire" after a sweeping shake-up at the flagship program. In an interview with The New York Times, Pelley said CBS removed several senior "60 Minutes" staff members, including executive producer Tanya Simon, and put tech journalist Nick Bilton in charge under CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. Pelley called the dismissals a "Black Thursday massacre" and argued the show's leadership had been delivering audience growth before the overhaul. He also accused Weiss of pushing last-minute changes to a February report on Minneapolis protests over an ICE crackdown.
