Saudi envoy links 17 deaths, 333 injuries to Houthi strikes
Why it matters: Riyadh says the attacks threatened airports, ports and Red Sea shipping near the Bab al-Mandab chokepoint.
Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi, blamed Houthi attacks for targeting Saudi civilian and economic facilities, including airports, ports and trade routes linked to the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab. Speaking in Jakarta on Friday, he said the strikes had killed 17 people and injured 333, including Saudi citizens and residents of multiple nationalities. He cited attacks on Abha Airport, King Khalid International Airport and King Fahd Airport. Saudi Arabia said it has pursued a political settlement in Yemen with U.N. involvement, while the Houthis have escalated militarily. PBS reported the rebels have also threatened vessels in the Red Sea with missiles and naval drones.
