Task force races to secure 2026 Sumatra recovery funds
As a result, 32 ministries and agencies are being asked to file 2026 supplemental budgets at once so rehabilitation does not stall as rain in Sumatera Barat is forecast to rise after June 7.
The Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra has asked 32 ministries and agencies to speed up requests for 2026 supplementary spending, so recovery programs in Aceh, Sumatera Utara and Sumatera Barat can begin promptly. Bappenas has also asked that 2027 funding needs be prepared in parallel so rehabilitation does not stop in the next fiscal year. The 2026-2028 master recovery plan has already received approval from the DPR. As of June 3, several ministries and agencies had entered the budgeting stage at the Ministry of Finance, including Kemendagri, Kementerian PU, Kementerian Perhubungan, Kementerian PKP, Kemensos, Kemendikdasmen, Kementerian Kesehatan and Kementerian Agama. On the ground, rehabilitation of agricultural land was reported at 63 percent, while BMKG forecast higher rainfall in Sumatera Barat after June 7.
