Salmonella outbreak tied to Mexican jalapenos sickens 345 in 27 states

US health officials are investigating a salmonella outbreak tied to jalapeno peppers imported from Mexico that has sickened 345 people in 27 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration said 36 people have been hospitalized, with no deaths reported.
The FDA traced the peppers to a common grower in Sinaloa and said California-based Coast Citrus Distributors supplied them to restaurants including Chipotle Mexican Grill and QDOBA. Illnesses began between June 19 and July 20. Coast Citrus agreed to recall remaining product and notify customers.
Chipotle removed jalapenos from affected locations beginning July 20, and QDOBA stopped using them on July 28. The FDA said it does not see a current ongoing risk to consumers at those restaurants.
