Russian strikes hit Ukraine power grid, leaving 600,000 without electricity

What's new: Zelenskyy said 26 power facilities and four oil-and-gas sites were damaged despite a Trump-backed energy ceasefire.

Russian missile and drone strikes hit Ukraine's energy infrastructure overnight, cutting power to at least 600,000 people in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday. He said the attack damaged 26 power-system facilities and four sites in the oil and gas sector, including a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv infrastructure he said should have been protected under the energy ceasefire President Donald Trump said had been agreed on Sunday. In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a residential building was also hit, killing two people and injuring 21. The strikes add to confusion over whether any halt to attacks on energy targets is actually in force.
