Russian strike on Ukraine aid site kills 29, leaves 48 missing
What's new: Ukraine said the attack hit Komyshuvakha as residents gathered for weekly aid, and rescuers were interrupted by drone attacks.
A Russian strike on a humanitarian aid site in the village of Komyshuvakha in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region has killed 29 people, with 48 others still missing, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday. The blast destroyed an aid facility and shelter where residents had gathered for weekly assistance. The dead include four police officers and two rescue workers, while at least five people were injured. Regional official Mykhailo Semikin said search teams were still pulling bodies from the rubble and had to pause work repeatedly because of drone threats. Ukraine declared mourning in Zaporizhzhia as Russia also launched a wider wave of missiles and drones across the country overnight, hitting power infrastructure and damaging hospitals.
