Russian strike on Kyiv-area ammo depot kills at least 37

What's new: Nearly 400 people were evacuated, and Ukraine opened negligence cases over storing munitions near homes.

A Russian drone strike on an ammunition depot near the Kyiv village of Myla killed at least 37 people, Ukrainian authorities said, after the blast set off secondary detonations at a military storage site near residential buildings. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the dead included a neighboring village head who rushed to help, and he called the storage of explosives near civilians “terrible negligence.” Officials said dozens were injured and nearly 400 people were evacuated. The site held artillery shells, mines and drones, Zelensky said. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry ordered a full audit of weapons storage locations after criminal cases were opened. The attack came as Russia’s air assault on Kyiv and the surrounding region stretched into a third straight day.
