Russia downs 50 Ukrainian drones near St. Petersburg before forum
What's new: Flight limits at Pulkovo disrupted more than 30 flights hours before the St. Petersburg economic forum opened.
Russia shot down 50 Ukrainian drones near St. Petersburg late Tuesday, authorities said, in an attack that came just before the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum opened. The strike prompted temporary flight restrictions at Pulkovo Airport, while Russian aviation regulator Rosaviatsia delayed more than 30 flights. St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said security measures had been tightened ahead of the forum, a flagship investment event hosted by President Vladimir Putin. The gathering runs from Wednesday to Friday, with Putin scheduled to deliver the main speech on Friday alongside leaders and senior officials from Uzbekistan, Tanzania, China and Saudi Arabia.
