Rupiah edges up to Rp17,894 per dollar in morning trade
The rupiah is seen trading at Rp17,870-Rp17,900, aided by Brent's drop to US$103.95 and the dollar index to 102.2.
The rupiah strengthened slightly at the opening of trade on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, to Rp17,894 per U.S. dollar, up 5 points or 0.03 percent from the previous close of Rp17,899 per dollar. Bank Woori Saudara analyst Rully Nova said the gain was supported by lower oil prices and a weaker U.S. dollar index. Brent crude fell 0.91 percent to US$103.95 per barrel, while the dollar index dropped to 102.2. At home, an auction of Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities was also seen helping support exchange-rate stability after absorbing Rp30 trillion, with yields of 6.55 percent for the 6-month tenor, 6.52 percent for 9 months, and 6.68 percent for 12 months. Rully projected the rupiah would move in a range of Rp17,870 to Rp17,900 today.
