Ronaldo signals 2026-27 season will likely be his last
What's next: The 41-year-old is one year from the end of his Al-Nassr deal and sits 24 goals shy of 1,000 senior career goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo said the 2026-27 campaign is probably his final season as a player, pointing to retirement after a career that has spanned 25 years. In an interview with Vogue, the Portugal captain said he wants to leave “a spectacular legacy” and that his post-football future is already planned. Ronaldo, 41, has spent nearly four years with Saudi Pro League champion Al-Nassr and has one year left on his contract. He is the all-time leading scorer in men’s international football and is 24 goals away from 1,000 senior career goals. Ronaldo recently helped Portugal reach the World Cup round of 16 and had said earlier he would decide on his future with “a calm head” after talking with his family.
