Ronaldo, 41, signals 2026-27 season could be his last
Why it matters: The Al-Nassr forward is 24 goals shy of 1,000 senior career goals as he weighs retirement.
Cristiano Ronaldo said the 2026-27 campaign is probably his final season as a professional player, offering his clearest signal yet that retirement is near. In a Vogue interview published this week, the 41-year-old Portugal captain said he wants to leave a “spectacular legacy” after about 25 years in the game. Ronaldo has one year left on his Al-Nassr contract in Saudi Arabia. He recently married longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez in Cascais, Portugal, and said he has already mapped out life after football, including more travel and padel. Ronaldo is a five-time Ballon d'Or winner and five-time Champions League champion, and he remains the leading scorer in men's international football.
