Rogers courts Michigan Democrats after El-Sayed primary win

Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers is pitching to disaffected Michigan Democrats after Abdul El-Sayed's narrow primary win set up one of the country's highest-stakes Senate races. In a video posted Friday, Rogers told voters who backed Rep. Haley Stevens that they still had "a home" with his campaign. El-Sayed, a former Michigan health official backed by Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, defeated Stevens after a closely watched Democratic primary in which party leaders supported her. Rogers ran unopposed for the Republican nomination. The November contest will fill the seat of retiring Democratic Sen. Gary Peters and could shape which party controls the Senate.
