Road collapse in Lenteng Agung triggers severe traffic to Depok

Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung in South Jakarta sank and closed two lanes toward Depok, causing long traffic jams since Friday morning.

Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung in South Jakarta collapsed and triggered severe traffic toward Depok on Friday (29/5) morning. Police closed two lanes from Jakarta to Depok, leaving vehicles able to pass in only one lane beside the KRL rail fence. The sinkhole is in the middle of the road and has been marked with water barriers and bamboo. The South Jakarta Bina Marga office said signs of subsidence had actually been detected since Wednesday (27/5) night after reports from residents and PPSU officers. An initial repair using coldmix was carried out Thursday morning, but the road cracked again and then sank further on Thursday night. South Jakarta Bina Marga head Rifki Rismal said the damage was suspected to be related to a water channel crossing beneath the road, which is now being handled by the SDA office.
