Ribka urges PIKI to draft policy recommendations on poverty

At a DPP PIKI meeting in Jakarta, the group was urged to move beyond ceremony and prepare cadres and policy concepts.

Deputy Home Affairs Minister Ribka Haluk urged Persatuan Intelegensia Kristen Indonesia (PIKI) to help shape public policy, starting with poverty. At a Central Executive Board meeting of PIKI in Jakarta on Saturday (6/6), Ribka said the organization should not stop at ceremonial activities, but should build an ecosystem that produces ideas, cadres and policy recommendations with an impact on society. Ribka, who is also deputy chairperson of PIKI, called on intellectuals, academics, professionals, business people and other stakeholders in the organization to develop concepts to address the nation’s challenges. PIKI Chairman Maruarar Sirait also asked Ribka to help identify potential figures in Papua, NTT, Maluku and Maluku Utara to strengthen the organization in those regions.
