Indonesia targets completion of IEU-CEPA ratification in H2 2026

The pact is projected to scrap tariffs on about 98 percent of tariff lines and take effect in early 2027.

The government is targeting completion of ratification of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) in the second half of 2026 so implementation can begin in early 2027. The timeline was discussed by Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto and European Union Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic at a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Brussels Economic Security Forum in Brussels, Belgium, on Friday (5/6). Both sides pushed to complete the ratification stages on schedule. For Indonesia, IEU-CEPA is considered important because it would widen access to the European Union market through zero tariffs for most export products. One of its main benefits is the removal of trade tariffs on about 98 percent of tariff lines. The meeting also touched on the European Union's Global Gateway program, including investment opportunities and critical mineral development.
