Volunteer Ahmad Zaki Ali dies while delivering quake aid in NTT
SAR teams evacuated the body by Basarnas helicopter from Manggarai Timur to Labuan Bajo before it was flown to Jakarta.
Ahmad Zaki Ali, 41, a Jakarta-based volunteer and founder of Yayasan Gerak Bareng, died while distributing aid to earthquake victims in Dampek, Lamba Leda Utara district, Manggarai Timur, Nusa Tenggara Timur, on Friday (21/8). Lamba Leda Utara police chief Iptu Ida Bagus Susana Adi Negara confirmed that Zaki died of a heart attack, while another report said he collapsed from exhaustion while carrying aid from Reo to Satar Padut village. On Saturday morning, the Maumere SAR Office deployed a Basarnas Dauphin helicopter to evacuate the body from a hard-to-reach location. The body was flown to Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, then taken to RSUD Pratama Komodo before being returned to the funeral home in Jakarta.
