Rangers open McInnes era with 1-1 draw at Dundee United

Rangers began Derek McInnes' tenure with a 1-1 draw away to Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership opener on Friday. Lachlan Rose put the hosts ahead in the 38th minute at Tannadice after Zac Sapsford dummied Jesse Randall's low cross. Rangers improved after halftime, and Thelo Aasgaard leveled in the 56th with a controlled touch and a left-foot finish into the top corner. McInnes handed debuts to Ivor Pandur, Ben Godfrey, Cammy Devlin and Lawrence Shankland, while Youssef Chermiti, Dan Neil and Ross McCrorie came off the bench. Dundee United nearly took all three points late on, but Randall's clean break ended with a soft shot straight at Pandur.
