Rafael Nadal joins Real Madrid board pending Nov. 21 vote
What's next: Club members are set to vote Nov. 21 on the appointment, which would add Nadal to a 19-member board.
Rafael Nadal is set to take a board seat at Real Madrid after the club approved his appointment and sent it to members for ratification at a Nov. 21 general assembly. The 22-time Grand Slam champion, who retired in 2024, said he accepted the offer with excitement and a desire to learn and help the club.
Real Madrid called Nadal, an honorary member and longtime supporter, one of Spain's most admired athletes and said his competitiveness, humility and work ethic match the club's identity. If members approve the move, Nadal would join a 19-person board. British media reported it remains unclear what duties he would hold in the role.
