Quick count: Iliana Iotova wins Bulgaria presidency by wide margin
Five parallel counts put Iotova at 56.6%-58.2%, far ahead of Andrey Gyurov, with the official result still pending.
Iliana Iotova is projected to win by a landslide in the second round of Bulgaria's presidential election on Sunday (1/11), based on quick-count results from five polling firms. The parallel tabulations put Iotova in the 56.6%-58.2% range, while her pro-Western rival, Andrey Gyurov, received 38.6%-40.6%. Gyurov said he accepted the result at a news conference in Sofia. In the first round last weekend, Iotova won 34.76% and Gyurov 31.95%. During the campaign, Iotova rejected support for additional weapons for Ukraine and pushed for peace through diplomatic channels, in contrast with Gyurov's position.
